Welcome Scribbler Metalheads! It’s Hump Day Metal Day once again! I’ll start you off with a sludgey southern rock band from Cult’s homeland! Look out for…
I first heard about XII Boar a couple years ago with the release of their second 4 song Ep Split Tongue, Cloven Hoof. That is one excellent Ep for fans of sludge and southern groove metal but these cats aren’t from deep in the Mississippi delta they’re from the UK! The track that hooked me was Slamhound which is a track I still groove on often. Check it out!
Now I haven’t kept up with the band as well as I should but when I looked I found I hadn’t missed a whole lot just a few singles since their last Ep. No slam on the band there just simply fact. But I saw that I missed a nice little cover they did for Motorhead’s Damage Case so I had to check it out. They stay fairly true to the original while sludging it up a bit making it their own rather than a strict straight forward cover trying to sound like Motorhead. I hate when bands do that on a cover song. I own the original I don’t want to hear just a poor reproduction of it. XII Boar add enough to make it a good cover version and I hope you like it too! And as with their other work it’s available free through bandcamp so download that shit guilt free!
That’s all I really have for you. Go ahead and click on the bandcamp link and you can listen or just free download what they have available so far. I can tell you it’s all good and the first two Eps I’ve had for a couple of years and still get a lot of play in my rotation. Follow XII Boar on Facebook & Twitter so you don’t miss a thing like I did.
*Quick update thanks to the band themselves. XII Boar have a new album releasing March 9th called Pitworthy, their first full length! Pre-order yours today HERE.
