Welcome to another Hump Day Metal Day Scribbler Metalheads! This is becoming my favorite and most dreaded day of the week. I love highlighting music but Holy Schnikeys is it a lot of work sometimes! Little bit of a slow week for new music I liked but we start off with something old that's been made new again! ![]() Throwback retro 80s thrash has been fairly popular for the last several years with some great newer thrash bands like Havoc or Toxic Holocaust but with any trend there are always more bad (or downright terrible) than there are good ones. Warbringer, at least to me, fall somewhere in between. I don't think they're the second coming of Megadeth (circa '88-ish before Mustaine lost his last couple marbles) nor are they absolute shit. I like them when I hear them but they just haven't stuck in my head. Perhaps I just need to listen to more from them which is probably the case. Anyway perusing the interwebs for new and exciting tunage I stumbled upon a just released bonus track from Warbringer's last album IV: Empires Collapse (2013) which for whatever reason was cut at the time. Hearing it I don't know why unless the proper permissions weren't received in time. Make whatever argument about Led Zeppelin in relation to metal's humble beginnings you want there's no denying they were great and influential. Here's some of that influence on today's generation of metal with Warbringer covering Communication Breakdown. Given normal record cycles I'd say we're probably due for a new Warbringer album sometime this year or early next year and I'll keep you updated unless I hate it which hasn't been the case with Warbringer to this point. Stay up to date with the band's latest news so you don't have to rely on me by following them on Facebook and Twitter. A big thanx to Metalsucks where I saw this first! What do you think Scribbler fans? Warbringer fan? Zep fan? Just hate covers of any kind? Let us know in the comments below.
