Welcome Horror & Metal Fans! It's been a couple weeks so time to catch you all up on the latest Scribbles from the Scribbler Mansion!
Life has it's ups and downs and then some more downs but then life always pretty much sucks. I haven't put up a little Rewind in a couple of weeks (I procrastinate because it takes forever) so I thought it'd be wise to catch any new comers or those who don't visit us everyday up to date. First, some Scribbler News... Since I last caught everyone up to date it was officially announced that Feind won the Dark Chapter Press Prize 2016 (a novel writing contest) for his novel Piece It All Back Together! The win is bittersweet though since I've also been informed DCP has opted not to publish this novel so I won the contest and the cash prize associated with it but not the ultimate prize of having my first novel published. The good thing about that is I wrote the novel in two weeks and based on time constraints had to leave some things out that I can now go back and add to it in order to make it better then I'll be looking for a publisher for it once again. I'd like to say a quick congratulations to our friends Grant Skelton and Alice J Black (who took 2nd & 3rd place respectively) and deserved to win over me. Additional congratulations to Grant for signing a contract to get his novel (novel title and publisher to be named soon!) published and to Alice being added as an editor at DCP! So that's the news on the horror writing side of things. On the metal side, The Scribblers are making some inroads with local promoters so we'll actually be "sponsoring" a couple of upcoming local shows here in Tucson and hopefully more and more as time marches on. We're also still catching up on some of the metal we missed while we were on hiatus while trying to bring you new metal as well which is keeping us pretty busy. I started a new segment called 1st impressions in the attempt to stay up on the current while trying to dig through the mountain of metal that piled up as well. We'll have plenty of awesome things going on as we move forward so stay tuned for even more horror & metal! Also since last catching you up I've been slowly working my way through little updates to the site so you'll see some different looks here and there still but it's all the same great content. Coming up this week we have an awesome exclusive interview courtesy of Cult that you won't want to miss plus plenty more horror & metal as always. Thank you all for continuing to come back again and again as we seem to be getting more traffic than ever lately, we really do appreciate it. If you enjoy something you read here please take the extra second to share it with your friends to help us reach even more horror & metal fans, there's room for everybody here. Now onto who had the most popular Scribble of the last couple weeks!
As always it was a close race but once again Local Metal Won the Day with Cult's take on another local show he attended with our friends in Tribulance!
A big thank you to all the local bands who performed and to our friends in Tribulance who never disappoint. We hope to see you all again soon! We'll have more from our local metal scene going forward!
As well as covering the local show (Scribble of the Week) we also crammed in reviews for 42 recent metal albums! You would think that would make a big dent in the mountain of metal we have still yet to review but it really doesn't make much of one. We have metal pouring in all the time so we'll keep bringing you what we think is the best of the best you should be checking out! Search #HumpDayMetalDay on Twitter or Facebook for even more metal we share.
We'll have plenty of horror and metal coming your way this week, as always, and be sure to stay tuned for the biggest interview in Scribbler history! It's an awesome one folks that you won't want to miss!
Enjoy all the horror and metal we share with you? Please take a moment to help us bring you even more with a small (or absurdly large) donation below and stop by S Mart for our published works to date. Thank You.
