Welcome music lovers! Old Man Feind was extremely happy this morning when I found a new Baroness track waiting for me in our inbox!!! Little things make me happy but I've been waiting to hear some new Baroness for a long time. Keeping with their color theme look for The Purple Album soon!
Happy Friday all... well at least it is now! I'll be completely honest here I was not much of a fan of Baroness through their first couple albums (The Red and The Blue albums). They aren't bad albums by any stretch they just didn't hit me in the gut so to speak then came the Yellow & Green double album. I fucking love this double album which unfortunately was followed by a horrible bus crash that nearly ended the band permanently. It took months for band members to recover enough to even think about playing music again and as far as I know the rehab for some is still ongoing. Similar to Randy Blythe's maturity handling his imprisonment in a foreign country, it was John Baizley's sincerity in talking about the crash that really grabbed my attention. There was no ranting and raving or placing blame or any such childish nonsense just some very somber thoughts about a tragic and near fatal incident that we have seen happen far too often in the rock/metal world. His thoughts on the accident were so well put that I began to delve into Baroness' music and Baizley's outstanding artwork. Not only has he done the artwork for every Baroness cover so far but has also done the artwork for many other bands like one of my favorites, Black Tusk, who sadly had tragedy strike them not all that long ago. The Yellow & Green album is just a masterpiece in my opinion showcasing the true talent of Baroness. Whether you call their sound hard rock or heavy metal or something else, the truth is there are many layers to their sound incorporating a mass of influences into one cohesive sound that is unmatched by most anyone else. Baizley is a masterful artist not just in music but in his drawings and paintings as well. Now I've blathered on long enough, check out the first release from what looks to be The Purple album. I've spun it about 10 times in a row already, it's that awesome! Listen to Chlorine & Wine below.
The Purple album will be released on December 18th on the band's own label, Abraxan Hymns and pre-orders are available as of today HERE. If you pre-order you get an instant download of the above awesome track, Chlorine & Wine. Stay up to date with upcoming tour dates as well as all news and notes from the band via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
