Welcome metalheads! Hump Day Metal Day is just rolling on with more new awesome metal! Once again The Scribblers were sent some fantastic music that we can’t help but pass along to all of you. Prepare for the underworld with some blackened doom to dim your day!
Once again Old Man Feind peered into the depths of our inbox to pluck out some pure awesome that I probably wouldn’t have come across otherwise. The other day I opened our inbox to find the latest from blackened epic doom band Mephorash. Now if you’ve followed us for awhile you hopefully know that Feind is not the biggest black metal fan, that’s generally Cult’s territory, so just at seeing the band name Mephorash I had immediate thoughts of black metal which nearly had me taking a pass other than forwarding it onto Cult to see what he thought but then I thought what the hell maybe I should give it a try for once. Man am I glad that I did! Yes, Mephorash are black metal at their dark core but they add in elements of doom and lack the high screechy vocals which are the real turn off for me when it comes to black metal (I really can’t describe how much I hate that). This first release from their upcoming album, 1557 – Rites of Nullification, is epic, symphonic, blackened doom of the highest order. What else would you expect from the depths of Sweden?!? Take a listen to Riphyon – The Tree of Assiyah Putrescent and see what you think for yourself. I for one am looking forward to hearing more!
1557 – Rites of Nullification does not yet have an official release date but will be coming your way in late August/early September and I’ll bring you an update once an official release date has been set and pre-orders are available. Until then stay up with all the latest from Mephorash by following their official website and Facebook.
