Halloween Horror Punk: The Horrids

Welcome Scribbler Music Lovers! In the attempt to Scribble outside our normal lines sometimes Old Man Feind runs across music that isn't strictly metal but is completely awesome. Maybe it was the name of the band, perhaps it was the NSFW warning, I don't really know but something compelled me to hit play and I think I found a winner once again. Damn I'm good! See for yourself with the thrashy, punk that is The Horrids!

If you love thrash like Scribbler favorites SLAYER (you better have just yelled that in your head or you suck) then you should know that their sound comes from the combination of the NWBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) bands combined with punk from that late 70s, early 80s era. The late great Jeff Hanneman was looking to form a punk band when he met up with Kerry, Tom and Dave not a metal band so metal & punk are at the heart of thrash. I'll be honest it took me a long time to get into punk and even longer to have any appreciation for it. I very nearly tossed my first foray into punk in the trash I so under appreciated it so sorry to The Exploited for nearly getting File 13'd so to speak. Luckily I didn't toss it in the trash and came to love it years later but a 15 year old me thought it was wretched. Now I have no idea why I'm rambling but I'm old and you could've just skipped my old man rant.
Moving on to the little gem I came across just moments ago... The Horrids. I have to admit the band name itself made me want to hit play and I'll also admit I was prepared to be underwhelmed. Instead I think The Horrids just gained a Scribbler fan. They've gotten to share the stage with the likes of GWAR & Casualties among others and if that doesn't entice you, just listen because they're damn awesome. Also this vid is perfect for Halloween with a great title, Salt For The Devil's Wounds, though wait until your dickhead boss goes on break because it is a touch NSFW.

I don't know about you Scribbler fans but I loved it! You can find The Horrids on ReverbNation or like 'em on Facebook to stay up with all their latest. Now I also clicked on the above vid pretty much at random but somehow once again I find once more that The Horrids are yet another new band from the Chicago area to catch the The Scribblers attention (Hate Storm Annihilation & Age of Ares we've already hightlighted). I swear this is merely by chance though it's getting a little creepy at this point. However if you're a Scribbler fan in the Chicago area I'd get your ass to the following show...
*Feind is a huge Misfits fan though sadly I have no way to get there (that's a hint for any rich Scribbler fans out there. Don't make me beg!)

So what do you think Scribbler Fans? Was I able to make you fans of The Horrids? Is some lovely reader going to donate to the "Get Feind's Ass To Chicago Fund"?
Yeah, probably not :(
