Speaking of some of the best...
Speaking of some of the best... Season of Mist. Due to that fact I've been listening to Australian band Ne Obliviscaris (No, do not ask me to pronounce that tongue twister) for a few years. NO's mix of styles inside and outside of just "metal" is what makes them so unique. Yes, at their heart they are almost a pure prog-metal band but that really tells you nothing as most "labels" tend to do. NO mix together black metal, death metal, an occasional pinch of thrash, plus more along with a heavy dose of classical to make them one of the most unique bands with one of the most unique sounds in all of metal or any other type of music for that matter. There are few labels these days I pay much attention to but one that seems to bring great original and different sounding music on a consistent basis is It occurred to me when I heard their new song last night that while there is just a ton of music pouring out of the world, in the DIY internet age we live in, that there are some great musicians out there but very few artists. I differentiate the two because to me they are two different things and hopefully you understand that sans explanation. Perhaps that has never been more clearly on display than on this beautiful Tim Charles solo off Ne Obliviscaris' upcoming album Citadel. Go listen to an exclusive of the song, Reveries From The Stained Glass Womb, via the German site, The first early release from Citadel - "Curator" Season of Mist will release Citadel on Nov 11th here in the states and Nov 7th in the rest of the world, pre-order here. Now just because I like you I found a nicely pro-shot bit of Ne Obliviscaris live for you which apparently people want to see since the band recently completed a successful crowd funding campaign to go on their first world tour which is pretty damn cool if you ask me. And Plague Flowers The Kaleidescope... Let us know what you think in the comments section below Scribbler Fans. Ne Obliviscaris are definitely a favorite of The Scribblers.
