Ok one last one for this week Scribbler Metalheads. It seems Profound Lore Records just find some of the best talent out there right now which is pretty amazing since it's essentially a one-man operation. There are a couple in my Best of the Best that is still to come but another one that very nearly made the Top 15 was Chicago's The Atlas Moth. ![]() Chris Bruni undeniably has a fantastic ear for talent as he just keeps nailing it as the one-man enterprise that is Profound Lore Records. All you have to do is take a look at some of the albums he's put out just this year to see that PLR isn't going under any time soon. I mean damn! I have four PLR albums on my personal best list and two of those are in my Top 15! That may not seem like that many but Profound Lore is a fairly small operation. It isn't like Mr. Bruni put out 500 albums this year and 4 made my personal best list, he put out I think less than 20 (I may be off by a couple) so a quarter of all he produced is on my best list. That's pretty fucking impressive and I've seen some lists with even more PLR albums on them so there is never a lack of quality coming from this label. The Atlas Moth is no exception to that. Their album, The Old Believer, is a truly amazing blend of black metal, death metal and doom making it one very unique album of experimental blackened death doom metal. Look all you want there's no label for it nor should there be as The Atlas Moth are in a league by themselves with this one. Again for this one it's only a matter of my own personal musical taste that holds this one out of my Top 15 but it is most definitely one of the year's absolute best. Sacred Vine and title track, The Old Believer, are standouts for me personally though there are no bad songs on this album. Be sure to check out all Profound Lore Records has to offer on bandcamp and click that buy button up there to own The Old Believer yourself. Then as always stay up on all the latest from The Atlas Moth by following them on Facebook and/or Twitter. No official vids for this one so here's a full live set from the band for you! What do think Scribbler fans? Was The Atlas Moth on your best of the year list? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
