Welcome Scribbler fans! Old Man Feind has another I've been waiting for the opportunity to be able to share. It's one of my most anticipated albums of the year and after a few early releases I wasn't able to share I now have one I can so enjoy...
Royal Thunder's 2012 masterpiece CVI hit me like a much needed cool breeze on a hot summer day. They had all the things I love, a little doom, a little sludge, a little blues and all wrapped up in a nice neat retro 70s stoner rock package. While retro 70s stoner rock bands seem to be popping up like an out of control rabbit population, the ones that are really good stand out all the brighter from their dim brethren. I mean I love this style but it is getting a little overrun in the last couple of years. Royal Thunder stand out for a few reasons, number 1 their musicianship is fantastic and number 2 lead singer/bassist Mlny Parsonz's voice is just fucking amazeballs! So finally in a couple of weeks (April 7th) their new album Crooked Doors will be unleashed. Everything I've heard so far tells me there will be no sophomore slump here. It may not satisfy all the metalheads out there but I fuckin love it so far. After hearing a couple early releases I wasn't able to share due to time or the inability to embed them here, their label (the ever awesome Relapse Records) put the new one up on YouTube and I also have the others I've heard for you as well so take a listen, I hope you love what you're hearing as much as I do!
The latest release, Glow
Last week's early release, Time Machine (my favorite so far)
The first early release, Forget You
Hopefully all that makes you want this album as much as I do! You can pre-order Crooked Doors from Relapse HERE. Then, of course, follow the band on Facebook and Twitter to keep up on all the latest.
