breaking the surface he holds aloft...
Directed by Robert Kurtzman
Andrew Divoff is a scientisit intent on creating a super soldier using whomever may be wandering by as test subjects. Yes, it's been done before, a saturated genre in fact, but never with as much gusto as this title displays. On my first viewing I forgot this one awfully quickly and I can't for the life of me imagine why. Hold on… wait… I remember now… it's the damned buzzards! The birds’ physical effects are laughable and the CGI could be from a SyFy production (the channel famous for crapping out Sharknado) but enough on that, I’ll get on with it…
Sure the acting was at times a little amateurish, the movie could have shown more BOOBS!, there could have been fewer scenes featuring the handicapable looking buzzards and the movie could have appeared slightly less than an advertisement for the band Mushroomhead (apologies to Feind’s son who is a big fan) but as the expression goes… we can't all be happy, all the time.
Enjoy this movie for what it is, which in a word is Grisly Fun (I cheated, it's two!) Other than the feeble looking vultures the multitude of effects here are impressive. Reggie Banister makes an appearance in another scene you might not forget for a few days and IMHO one of the music videos is a little more than alright.
I truly believe this one was for the fans!
