*The Movie & Music Network’s streaming is temporarily down but should be back on track in the next day or two. TMMN is offering subscribers free February for the inconvenience. Don’t be alarmed it is a temporary issue while updates are being done.
This movie is yet another mad scientist “bent on world domination through nefarious means” movie. But what makes this one different than most is that it's based on a popular Playstation game, Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad (2006), and that it was produced entirely in Japan.
At the mere mention of 'zombies' I can more than imagine a collective eye rolling to a melodic chorus of “More GD zombies!” That's an affirmative ladies and gentlemen however in this movie they have bite, speed and attitude. Some are even practiced enough in Martial Arts that they could easily (and swiftly) place a certain Mr Chan unceremoniously on his behind.
Several impressive showdowns take place between the main feuding (siblings) characters which grow in intensity towards the films climax. While many of these skirmishes are fueled by pulse pounding techno music the final 'battle' takes place in an open field (sans the smallest distraction) as if in direct homage to the multitude of classic fighting arcade (versus) games of yesteryear (Mortal Kombat 'fatality' anyone).
