Well Scribbler fans we've come to the end. Super Sunday is upon us which means the NFL season is finally coming to a close. Cult can begin his weeping as the bet is done, Old Man Fiend has won but we still have one last game to pick. Sorry it's a little anti-climatic since both Scribblers hate Tom Brady and the Patriots. But we'll try to have a little fun anyway.
So the Patriots have reached the Super Bowl for the 6th time in the Brady era *YAWN* and once again they make every attempt at tainting their own legacy. This time rather than cheating by trying to steal teams plays during pre-game warm ups we have Deflate-gate. While I think there is no doubt that the Patriots would've beaten the Colts in the AFC Championship game, they didn't know that before the game began. I haven't paid any attention to the discussions of this matter so perhaps you think "What's the big deal? They won by 38 points so they were going to win anyway." All I can do is repeat myself, the Patriots didn't know before the game began that the Colts weren't going to show up. If you think the balls having 10-15% less air in them was no factor at all on a cold New England day then you've never felt a football when it's cold out. On cold days the ball can feel heavy like a rock making it difficult to hang onto, now let out a little air and Bam! the ball is much easier to get a grip on. So yes, the Patriots were probably going to win but it was still cheating and if you don't think that it came directly from Coach Belichick you're delusional. Plus what if the balls had been inflated properly and early in the game or at some key point some Patriot player fumbled the ball. Turnovers can change momentum in a game tremendously so you can't really say the Patriots would have won anyway. The main thing here is Fuck Tom Brady and Fuck The Patriots. I think Belichick is possibly one of the best coaches ever but once again we're shown that he is also one of the biggest cheaters in NFL history. The Patriots will forever be tainted by the dark cloud of cheating which they have earned. Their egos don't seem to allow shame though they have nothing to be proud of during the entire Belichick/Brady era.
Ok, sorry for the rant-ish there but man I hate Brady but think about it, he made it to his first Super Bowl based on the "Tuck Rule" which was a rule invented specifically for that game as it wasn't a part of the rule book until the next year and due to the fact that it never was used, and made no fucking sense, it has been taken back out. As a Raiders fan I really can't let that one go. So what about the Patriots Super Bowl opponent? Seattle had no controversy in their win over the Packers who had that game in the bag until they fell asleep in the final 5 minutes and then overtime. I mean come on! Russell Wilson handed you 4 interceptions plus there was a fumble for 5 Seattle turnovers and they still came back and won! The only controversy out of the Seahawks camp is Marshawn Lynch's defiance of giant asshat Goodell. In case you're not familiar Lynch doesn't like talking to the press which should be his right but rules state players must attend press events for the Super Bowl. After initially being fined $100K for ignoring the press, Goodell informed Lynch the fine would be $500K if he refused to show up again. Now some think Lynch is being childish, after all he gets paid millions to play the least he can do is talk to the press, but I say why? If you or anyone you know has any social anxiety disorder (it's common you know someone whether you know it or not) then you'd know its actually unnecessarily stressful. Now, I don't know if Lynch has any social anxiety or if he just doesn't want to talk to the press because he doesn't like to but it should be is right to choose and personally, I like how he's handled it by just repeating over and over, "I'm only here so I don't get fined." Which if you can read between the lines, Lynch is saying again and again, "Fuck you Roger Goodell!" I couldn't agree more!
So it shouldn't be too hard for anyone to tell that as both Scribblers absolutely hate Tom Brady and the cheating Patriots, we are both picking the Seahawks to win. Purely for bragging rights we've made some score predictions with Cult calling it with a 31-24 Seahawk victory and Old Man Feind thinking it won't be so close by the end with a 38-17 Seahawk victory. Honestly I'm not sure I'll even be watching but I would like to see Tom Brady cry one more time. Super Sunday used to be a big deal in my life but through a combination of factors mostly stemming from how the league has chosen to treat the players I just don't care anymore. If by chance I end up watching out of habit I'll be cheering on the Seahawks but I'd rather skip it and maybe do a horror movie marathon instead. That would at least be enjoyable but feel free to let us know what you think either of the game or of what Cult's punishment should be for losing. I'll make one final post after the "Big Game" then hopefully never speak of football again.
