Hate is Born wastes no time whatsoever in tossing the listener into the swirling chunky riff laden death chaos (there's a band name for ya!) that is their style. Infused with a plethora of influences ranging from traditional death acts to those that dwell in the dark and sludgy grindcore arena, theirs is a style that's a mite tricky to categorize fully though. It is a sound so chock full of head noddin' grooves that it would drive any mosh pit into a frenzied and uncontrollable mass. Short tracks keep the album interesting and the ever changing bouncing rhythms and riffs keep the vibe intense. The vocals frequently dip into bree-bree-bree territory though never deviate from anything other than brutal growls, grunts and shrieks. It goes without mentioning that anyone whose music library includes Cannibal Corpse,Monstrosity or Obituary should give this underrated album/band a listen. Standout tracks include To Watch Them Slain, Hate is Born, Through Killing Spree and Carnal Playground.Though for me the album's 'cherry' is D-Flesh, the groove in this track is undeniable and forces me to look silly every time I give it a listen as I just can't sit still while it invades the space between my ears... clear the dance floor ladies Cult is gonna bust a move or three.
