Welcome Scribbler Fans! It's Meshuggah's 25th Anniversary this year and they're celebrating by touring and putting out a new live DVD! Meshuggah is a Feind favorite that I'm still working on getting Cult into which I will if it kills him! Get a sneak peak...
I make no secret that I'm a huge Meshuggah fanboy and I'll force Cult to like them if it's the last thing I do! BWAHAHA! This year they celebrate 25 years as a band creating something so unique along the way someone just had to come up with a label for it which needs more of an explanation than the band's music. It's called djent (pronounced "gent" for the uninitiated) which as I said tells you jack fuck all about the sonic experience that is Meshuggah. A better term would be to simply say "polyrhythmic" but perhaps no less confusing to most. 2012's Koloss (Swedish for Colossus natch!) was my #1 album of that year and I think it has become my favorite Meshuggah album overall. Here's the sneak peak they released for their new DVD The Ophidian Trek which is their 25th Anniversary/Koloss tour, a live performance of the excellent track Do Not Look Down.
You can order The Ophidian Trek via Nuclear Blast here which is a DVD or Blu-Ray of live show plus 2 CDs of live Meshuggah! Meshuggah pride themselves on their technical ability sounding studio quality even live so it's definitely worth checking out. Their previous live DVD Alive: In Space No One Can Hear You Scream was awesome so I'm sure this is just as well done.
Feind is definitely looking forward to whatever Meshuggah do next so hopefully some of you out there are too. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Feind created this page to bring you random Scribbles about new music, TV, writing or whatever happens to be on my minds.
