off the Evil Empire album

Welcome Scribbler fans! Due to a recent change in computers I was finally able to get all (well mostly all, I’m still working on it) of my personal music collection in one place. Since I have a ton of tunes I thought it’d be fun to set my collection to random and share the first five songs that come up. So here we go…
It seems like it took me forever but I finally have most of my music collection all in one place. I still have some old cassettes that I haven’t converted to digital mainly due to some of them being a little harder to find but most have been converted over the years. I really can’t express how happy I am to have all of my music in one place finally. It’s taken me a couple of weeks and I still have a little more to go but I’d say I have about 90% of collection safely stored here and soon I’ll save it to the “cloud” so I never have to worry about losing it again. Unfortunately I did not do this several years ago and lost at least a couple hundred albums when my old laptop caught a virus and died. Some I wasn’t sad to see go but some I’m still working on replacing. So anyway since Hump Day is Metal Day here at Thy Demons Be Scribblin and most of my personal collection is metal I thought we could have a little fun and give you some more insight into Old Man Feind’s listening habits. Now when I’m working which seems like about 20 hours a day I usually click the shuffle icon and just let it rip skipping past the songs that don’t suit my mood or just aren’t that good so every Hump Day Metal Day I thought I’d take you along for the ride for at least the first five songs. Now you’ll just have to trust me that I’m not cherry picking anything or skipping over any tunes that aren’t necessarily up to snuff. These are going to be the first five tunes that pop up and I’ll just toss in a brief comment as we go. So hold your breath and hope for something good, here… we… go…
Deftones – Combat off Saturday Night Wrist
Well this one starts us off a little out of left field. After the first two Deftones albums, Adrenaline and My Own Summer, this was my first Deftones album that I had bought in several years. I lost interest after White Pony to be honest but Saturday Night Wrist brought me back to the Deftones and is one of my favorite albums to listen to start to finish. I have some personal favorites from this album and while Combat isn’t a bad song it isn’t my favorite from this album. Still not a bad start to this little experiment.
Danzig – Black Candy of Deth Red Sabaoth
Wow, similar to the Deftones this was the album that brought me back to Danzig after he had released a few albums I hadn’t cared for. Honestly after Eerie Von left the band after Danzig IV I lost interest in Glenn’s work for a long time as he drastically changed his sound at that time becoming a bit more industrial but then I picked up the Lost Tracks box set and then this album and very honestly Black Candy is one of my favorite songs on this or any other Danzig album and I’ve been listening from the beginning. So yay me, two winners in a row!
Taproot – Believed off the album Gift
This is the sole Taproot album in my entire collection. I bought it because I liked one song from it that honestly I can’t remember the name of and prior to loading it into my music player I hadn’t listened to it in quite literally several years. They’re a bit Deftone-ish so I guess it fits in here today. I actually saw them live once as well several years ago like around 2002 or maybe 2003 I can’t remember. A buddy of mine was a giant Disturbed fan and dragged me to see them and Taproot was one of the opening acts. Truth be told I fucking hate Disturbed but I went to see Rob Zombiewith this same friend so his taste wasn’t all bad.
Serj Tankian – Blue [alt version] from the Special Edition Elect the Dead bonus disc
*Not the correct version but a good one nonetheless
I fucking love this song! This is very nearly an acoustic version off the bonus disc that came with the special edition release of Elect The Dead. I know some people are sick of Serj’s solo work and just want a new System of a Down album but for the most part I’ve liked Serj’s solo work as well. I’ve been an SOAD fan since the beginning and I’d love another album which is rumored to still be another year or two away as Serj is just one busy Armenian but to me his solo work isn’t that far off from SOAD though perhaps a little more on the mellow side. Personally, I thought Mesmerize/Hypnotize were the weakest of the SOAD albums so the break was probably a good thing though unfortunately some of the band members haven’t done quite so well as Serj in the time off.
Rage Against The Machine – Tire Me
off the Evil Empire album
Rage! Is my media player just trying to be ironic or is it mocking me!?! While I can really take or leave a SOAD reunion album the world needs Zach De La Rocha back in Rage Against The fucking Machine! This may not be my favorite song off of Evil Empire but let’s be honest, is there a bad song on Evil Empire? Fuck No! What a way to end this first edition of Fast Five! Rage on Scribbler fans!
So there you have it Scribbler fans that ends this first edition of Feind’s Fast Five. I assure you what you see written above I wrote while each song played as this is supposed to be quick. Luckily nothing embarrassing popped up to make me blush like a five year old caught stealing a cookie from the jar. So until next week enjoy these five random tunes from my collection and feel free to play along and share the first five songs that pop up for you in the comments section. Feind out!
Please play along and share the first 5 songs that pop up on shuffle for you. No cheating or The Scribblers’ rabid meth’d up monkey army will be unleashed to end you for your insolence!
