My fellow Americans, Feind gives his humble apologies. I am ashamed to say Cult thoroughly kicked my a** but I promise to comeback! I'll have to eat a little crow for now but we'll see who laughs last!
Well Scribbler Fans Feind will be eating crow all week since I let that damn Brit Cult beat me (See our Week 1 picks here) I could say I let him win one but then he'd know the secret. I had to give him a headstart, right? If only that were true. I really hate Week 1 of the NFL season. There may not be a more unpredictable mess than trying to guess who has the gas left in the tank to finish the 4th quarter without falling on their damn face. It would seem the Saints, Jaguars and the Chargers were running on fumes unable to close out a game at the end and several others were close. Looks like it might be a tight year in the NFL as I didn't see any team absolutely stinkin' up the field, well... maybe The Giants!
Cult's team, The Vikings, eked out a victory over the Sam Bradford-less Rams who also lost their star defensive player Chris Long in the process. I'll try not to make fun of Cult for only choosing the Vikings for the "regal" color purple (Satan Screw The Queen!) and for wonderful Viking metal ala Amon Amarth! I hate to break it to Cult but I can't see the Purple People Eaters gobbling up too many victories, I see an 8-8 in their future at best. So screw The Vikings but long live Viking METAL!!!!
On a not so surprising note my Raiders began the year with a loss. However, I wasn't at all disappointed with the game despite losing. With new rookie QB Derek Carr at the helm the Raiders needed to keep the offense a bit conservative and trying to run on the Jets defense is very nearly an exercise in futility and it was. Carr didn't make any big mistakes and if he can continue that while improving then the future will be fairly bright. I'm not sure how long new GM Reggie Mckenzie will give Coach Allen but for me to continue my support I need to see some offensive improvement. On the other hand all the defensive acquisitions seem to have nicely improved the defense so we'll see how it goes. Unfortunately I don't see us getting above 500 this season once again.
The Raiders were in LA at this time hence Kerry King's jersey
So here's the final tally as Feind hangs his head in shame.
Now rather than eat crow, Feind would much prefer to Stone The Crow so Down take it away...
