Part of the spelunking entourage is a couple who are shown in the opening scene taking part in a séance that doesn't end well (do they ever, especially when used as the opening to a film?) The film progresses as it does it showcases many a factor that is traditionally associated with B movie features, so... where's my checklist? Horrid over the top acting (check), Cheesy FX (check), rubbery humanoid creature costume with only one malleable facial expression (check) and, of course, there are other points to consider and take into account. Have no illusions folks, I've managed to pick another low budget gem from my treasured collection yet again.
Without ruining the storyline (though I may as it really didn't amount to anything that might make one ponder or muse for more than, at most, a split second) the group soon encounter the creature as they explore the caves and predictably enough dire situations arise and develop. Unlike other Monster/Creature features this feature's 'beast' is revealed very early on thus taking away a slew of opportunities for suspenseful moments throughout the rest of the feature. The creature's appearance is somewhat reminiscent of the demon in Rawhead Rex(one of my Scribblin partner's favorites, also a TDBS B-view, from the brilliant mind of literary giant Clive Barker *A favorite tale not a favorite movie) it also strongly resembles what, I would imagine, a love child might look like resulting from a wild night of unchained passion between a lustful Yeti and an insatiable Ogre.
thanks to Feind here you go friends!
