Spain 2002 - Massa d'Or Produccions
Directed by Pepe de las Heres
Part way through a vivid gun fight the pair come to a stunning conclusion... something smells fishy (and it isn't the edge of the pool table. An inside joke that may well be appreciated after viewing the film in its entirety). The pair make a hasty exit, outdoing even Speedy Gonzales, leaving poor Juan behind. Up until this point the film has been so-so, beyond this point however, the film gets very interesting. So where were we? Oh yes… Poor Juan. In perhaps my second favorite scene of this film, fists start flying resulting in crimson and various swellings on the unfortunates visage. Remarkably Juan has an odd sense of humor (and can also take one hell of a beating) asking his captors, “if you are beating the shit outta me for me to answer a question, I'd appreciate the question,” followed moments later by, “I confess, I confess. I did whatever it was that pissed you off!” In all honesty it is this character, Juan, that steals every scene he's in, whether he's foaming at the mouth or laughing at his captors in their vain attempts to find his Achilles heel, he never failed to keep me amused.
Good luck hunting this gem down folks, I've heard rumor that it's a tad on the rare side. Is there perhaps a distribution firm out there that is willing to take a chance, take note of my interest, this features attraction and bring this comedic splatterfest to the audience it so deserves. Pretty please! Where's the sugar at?
